Longevity in Design
Handtufted by Dilana in 1991, John Bevan Ford & Michael Reeds designs for the Ministry for Culture & Heritage offices in Wellington have withstood the tests of time. Moving shortly to its 3rd location the rugs are a testament to how good design & craftsmanship can adapt to new environments.
Looking as good as the day they were made, these pieces are modern day heirlooms in the making.
Marquettes for the Floor
- a spontaneous collection of miniature rugs
Dilana invited 7 artists to participate in a Marquette workshop utilising the surplus yarn stores of over 1000 colours. Each artist resolved their idea in a square metre or less.
Auckland International Airside Departures

The successful carpet design is based on the pohutukawa motif. The enlarged non repeat carpet pattern creates a sense of destination, a place to stop, consider and shop.

Millennium Art Gallery
7 May -12 June 2011
Following Millenniums extremely successful themed exhibition, Flora & Fauna last October, they have compiled another fun, group exhibition of outstanding art by artists from throughout New Zealand.
In January Dilana exhibited again at Maisons and Objets, one of Europes largest design fairs. Tens of thousands saw our work on show as part of The Moa Room. Bing Dawes Stock-take rug (kahawai Waitaki River mouth) was selected for the plum spot front-of-house.
Dilanas creativity was on display again in the French capital in March when the NZ Embassy celebrated Antipodean fashion, design and lifestyle. A special event in aid of the earthquake, exhibitors also included The Moa Room, Koko, Snowberry and Icebeaker.
We are delighted that Italian-New Zealand sculptor,Chiara Corbelletto, has joined the Dilana artists collective.
Her vibrant polypropylene works are exciting, contemporary pieces using repetition of forms and patterns in symmetrical compositions. Watch this space for more!
Napier painter and ceramic artist Martin Poppelwell has posted two new grid designs on his website.
